Zero trust
Definition
Zero trust is a security approach that never grants access on network location alone and instead verifies identity, device and context for every request.
Why it matters when you’re buying
It suits a world where users, devices and applications sit outside the old network perimeter. It is delivered through several products working together, so judge vendors on how they fit your identity systems and which legacy access they help retire.
How it relates to other terms
ZTNA applies zero trust to application access, SASE delivers it from the cloud alongside networking, and microsegmentation applies it inside the data centre.
