Microsegmentation
Definition
Microsegmentation divides a network or environment into small zones, down to individual workloads, and allows only the traffic each one needs.
Why it matters when you’re buying
It limits how far an attacker can move after getting in, which makes it a core part of ransomware resilience and zero trust. The hard part is mapping real application dependencies before enforcing any policy.
How it relates to other terms
It is zero trust applied inside the network, and a service mesh can enforce it between services on Kubernetes.
