Shared responsibility model
Definition
The shared responsibility model sets out which security and operational duties belong to a cloud provider and which to the customer, for each type of service.
Why it matters when you’re buying
Gaps appear when a customer assumes the provider handles something it doesn’t, such as configuration, identity or backups. Read the provider’s model for each service you use and map your own controls to it.
How it relates to other terms
A CNAPP helps with the customer’s side of the line in cloud configuration, and backups of your own data almost always sit on the customer’s side.
