In short

Cloud security covers protecting workloads, data and configurations in public cloud, including posture management, workload protection and the platforms that combine them, often called CNAPP. Buyers care because cloud incidents often start with misconfiguration or over-broad permissions, and because the provider secures the cloud while you secure what you put in it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the shared responsibility model?

The split of security duties between a cloud provider and its customer. The provider secures the underlying infrastructure; the customer secures its data, identities, configurations and applications. Where the line falls depends on the service.

What is a CNAPP?

A cloud-native application protection platform combines several cloud security tools, typically posture management, workload protection, permission analysis and code or image scanning, in one product.

Agent-based or agentless scanning?

Agentless scanning reads cloud APIs and disk snapshots, so it is quick to roll out and covers everything. Agents run on workloads and see more at run time. Many teams use agentless coverage everywhere and agents where runtime protection matters.
