Quantum computing
Definition
Quantum computing uses quantum bits, which can hold combinations of states at once, to tackle certain problems that are impractical for classical computers.
Why it matters when you’re buying
Practical business uses are still emerging, and most organisations experiment through cloud access. For most buyers the more pressing step is preparing for post-quantum cryptography.
How it relates to other terms
Post-quantum cryptography is the defence against what large quantum computers could one day break.
