Glossary
Multicloud
Also called Multi-cloud.
Definition
Multicloud means using services from more than one public cloud provider, either for different workloads or for the same application.
Why it matters when you’re buying
It can reduce dependence on one supplier and let teams use each provider’s strengths, but it multiplies skills, tooling and security work. Decide per workload whether you need real portability or just the freedom to choose.
How it relates to other terms
Egress fees are a hidden cost of moving data between clouds, and Kubernetes is often used to keep workloads portable across them.
