Hybrid cloud
Definition
Hybrid cloud is an approach that runs workloads across on-premises infrastructure or private cloud and one or more public clouds, managed as one estate.
Why it matters when you’re buying
Most large organisations already work this way, by design or not. The useful questions are how consistently you can manage security, identity, cost and deployment across environments, and which workloads belong where.
How it relates to other terms
Hybrid adds on-premises or private cloud to the mix, where multicloud means more than one public cloud. Hyperconverged infrastructure is a common on-premises building block, and sovereign cloud is a common reason to keep some workloads close.
