Liquid cooling
Definition
Liquid cooling removes heat from servers by circulating liquid to or around the hottest components, instead of relying on air alone.
Why it matters when you’re buying
Dense AI and HPC systems can produce more heat than air cooling can handle, so liquid cooling increasingly decides what you can deploy in a facility. It affects data centre design, maintenance skills and supplier choice.
How it relates to other terms
The densest GPU clusters are usually designed around it.
