DORA metrics
Definition
DORA metrics are a small set of software delivery measures from long-running industry research, covering how often teams deploy, how long changes take to reach production, how often changes fail and how quickly service is restored.
Why it matters when you’re buying
They give a shared, outcome-based view of whether delivery is improving, and they balance speed against stability. Use them to follow trends within a team, not to rank teams against each other. They are unrelated to the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act, which shares the acronym.
How it relates to other terms
CI/CD pipelines supply most of the data, and platform teams use the measures to show their effect.
