Glossary
CI/CD
Also called Continuous integration, Continuous delivery, Continuous deployment.
Definition
CI/CD stands for continuous integration and continuous delivery or deployment: building and testing every code change automatically, then releasing it through a repeatable pipeline.
Why it matters when you’re buying
Fast, reliable pipelines shorten the time from idea to production and make releases routine. Pipelines also hold credentials that can change production, so their security deserves as much attention as their speed.
How it relates to other terms
GitOps handles the deploy step for many teams, feature flags separate deploying from releasing, and pipelines are the natural place to produce an SBOM.
