Acquisitions and mergers
In short
This topic follows technology companies buying, merging with or being bought by others. For buyers, a deal can change a product’s roadmap, pricing, support and contract terms, so it is worth knowing when a supplier or a product you rely on changes hands.

Frequently asked questions
What should we do when a key supplier is acquired?
Check your contract for change of control, price protection and termination clauses, ask the new owner for a written roadmap and support commitment for the products you use, and note your renewal dates.
Do acquisitions change pricing?
They can. New owners sometimes repackage products, move them into bundles or change licensing models. Price protection in contracts and staggered renewals give you time to respond.
How can we tell whether an acquired product will last?
Look at whether it fills a gap in the buyer’s portfolio or overlaps an existing product, what the new owner says about it publicly, and whether its team and release pace continue after the deal.
